Our Process

The first step in updating your home with a Closet America storage system is to schedule a free design consultation. On the day of the consultation, a Closet America designer will come to your home and work with you to design your dream storage system.

When you meet with one of our design consultants, you’re working with one of the best people in the industry. All of our designers are certified by the Closet Institute of America and have completed rigorous training. These experienced professionals meet with dozens of homeowners in Maryland, Washington, DC and Northern Virginia each week and will work around your schedule to meet whenever it’s convenient for you – including evenings or weekends.

On the day of the consultation, one of our designers will arrive on time at your home with a few tools of the trade, including samples of our hardware and other materials. The designer will work with you to get a sense of your needs for the space, your design style and your lifestyle. The designer will take precise measurements of the space and, using computer assisted design (CAD) technology, create an interactive 3D model of your system. By the end of the appointment, you’ll see a life-like model of your new space and receive a no-obligation written quote that is good for a full year – guaranteed.

The production of each system is carefully monitored by a team of skilled technicians from beginning to end, assuring the highest quality.

At Closet America we produce your system from scratch in our Landover, Maryland factory. Using the latest in computer assisted manufacturing technology, each system is precisely cut and finished by our engineering department.

A wood shelf sits ready to be cut for our durable metal shelf supports that lock shelves into place for safety and strength.

We inspect every product by hand and carefully assemble our installation pallets, for a fast and mistake-free installation day.

Our state-of-the art edge banding technology uses hot air – not glue – to eliminate peeling and increase durability.
Our 3-millimeter edge banding is six times thicker than many of our competitors’, providing durability, quality and beauty.

We take great care to make every installation easy and hassle-free from start to finish.

It starts with our vans. Closet America operates a fleet of custom-designed Mercedes Sprinter vans. We’re proud of our vans – they’re perfectly organized to allow for efficient loading and unloading of custom cut parts from our production facility to your home. For each job, we use custom shipping pallets that protect and organize the materials for efficient installation. Naturally, we designed the pallets to fit perfectly in our Closet America vans.

To prevent scratches during transport, your system’s components are padded. Before your pallet leaves our production facility on installation day, we carefully load it with everything needed and double-check the design. Our uniformed, professional installers arrive at your home on time and with everything they need for the job.

Cleanliness is a Closet America trademark. Before bringing any materials or tools into your home, our installers cover your floors with protective tarps and runners. After installation, our team meticulously inspects the area and cleans up any trace of dust and debris. The only thing you will see is your beautifully organized space.

Our team completes the job usually within one day. You can begin enjoying your newly organized space before installation day is over.

Your satisfaction is important to us. In the days and weeks after your Closet America system is installed, we will follow up with you to make sure the system works the way you want. In the off chance that adjustments need to be made, no matter how small, we will come out and make the needed corrections.

For years after your Closet America system is installed, you can rely on our quality and service. Each system comes with a transferable warranty that is good for double the life of your home.

About Closet America

Closet America began with the idea that home organization systems should be functional, beautiful, and affordable. So, we reimagined every facet of the process, from the materials we use to the service and installation we provide. The cornerstone of Closet America systems is quality. We use the latest in computer-assisted technology to create 3D renderings of each customer’s design, allowing us to build each piece to specification. Each system is manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility in Landover, Maryland, with a dedicated team guiding the production from start to finish. Each system is installed by trained Closet America installers.
